Mediation Techniques in Project Management
Whether we realize or not, basic mediation techniques are practiced daily in almost every professional and personal interaction. That may not be more true than in project management where there is often a wide range of actors with different drivers, positions and emotions, all of which affect a project outcome. Studies show that regardless of project methodology, projects have succeeded or failed at the same rate over the years. So what really makes the difference in project success? The true drivers are the team members and their motivation to reach the goal, which is largely affected by communication and interpersonal interactions. This presentation will provide some insight on fundamental mediation theories and offer tactical tools and techniques that can be used to better navigate through the people part of project management by focusing on team and interpersonal dynamics for more consistent successful project delivery.
