Profiles in Leadership – A Nebraska Governor’s Story

What is Leadership? Is it an innate talent, born into the lucky? Or, is it a carefully learned, nurtured, and grown skill? Is it both or neither? Arguably one of the best leadership programs throughout the history of America is the U.S. Military Academy at West Point's program. Take a look at the leadership of Nebraska's longest serving commander-in-chief, Governor Dave Heineman and the principles of leadership that played out as he governed our state through the Great recession and back into economic prosperity, leaving office with an unbelievable 83% approval rating. Were the leadership principles of West Point the key drivers to his success? What takeaways can you add to your leadership profile today, to continue to succeed on your path?

Learning Objectives:

1. Explore the characteristics of a large organizational structure.

2. Analyze an example of successful leadership

 3.  Apply the principles of leadership as taught through the US military academy at West Point.
