In 2024, Lorna embarked on the journey to become a self-published author. Her first book, Cybersecurity Compliance for Non-IT Leaders: Learn Which Framework is Right for Your Organization in Any Industry, was released on October 27, 2024, on Amazon.com.

Since 2001, Lorna has been delivering HIPAA/HITECH Privacy and Security training to organizations across the U.S., Canada, Africa, and Dubai through ecfirst. She delivers training materials in both public and private classroom settings, virtually and in person. Her extensive client list includes organizations like the University of Utah, Microsoft, Cerner, Ascension Health, Kaiser Permanente, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, The Veterans Administration, SmartHealth, The Longstreet Group, Hewlett Packard, McKesson, The Iowa Hospital Association, State of Iowa, State of Oregon, GHX, Health Alliance, Flex Benefits just to name a few.

Lorna is a seasoned presenter at prominent industry events, including the HIPAA Summit, Infotec Conference, Iowa FLEX Conference, Indiana Rural Health Conference, Illinois Critical Access Hospital Conference, and Western Health Alliance, HIMSS Iowa and Kansas annual conference, and many others.

As the Director of Business Development, Lorna generated and maintained new business for a multi-region territory, providing consulting and recommending services for clients to achieve compliance with HIPAA, HITRUST CSF, PCI DSS, CMMC, and other security regulations.

Before her tenure at ecfirst, Lorna and her husband owned and managed ExecuTrain of Central Iowa, a computer training franchise. Earlier in her career, Lorna was a General Manager overseeing three states in the Long Distance Telephone industry.

Lorna has been actively involved with HIMSS since 2006, serving as a board member and holding several positions within the Iowa Chapter, including President. She currently serves on the National Chapter Task Force Committee for the second time and is a past Chairperson. Additionally, Lorna has served on the HITRUST Marketing Council and been a board member on several other organizations.
