Speakers Bio:

Sandra Reding joined the Aksarben Foundation as President in 2017. Working directly with the Board of Governors and Councillors, Sandra oversees and implements the strategic direction of the Aksarben Foundation. With over twenty years in not-for-profit leadership and fundraising and vast experience in higher education and scholarship administration, Sandra brings a strong knowledge and proven track record of respect and activation. Prior to Aksarben, Sandra served as President of the Children’s Scholarship Fund of Omaha and the Joslyn Art Museum. Additionally, Sandra has held leadership and development roles throughout the region. Formerly, President of Joslyn Art Museum, Director of Development for Lauritzen Gardens, and Vice-president for Institutional Advancement at College of Saint Mary. Sandra received her Bachelor’s from Briar Cliff University and a Master’s from Iowa State. She and her husband, Jim, have two children.

Jim Smith is the Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of the Platte Institute and former President of Blueprint Nebraska. Prior to working with the Platte Institute and Blueprint Nebraska, Jim served consecutive terms in the Nebraska Legislature where he chaired the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee and the Revenue Committee. Jim has been a small business owner and entrepreneur and spent more than 25 years in the electric and gas utility industry, working for investor-owned utilities in Louisiana and Texas and later for public power in Nebraska. Jim holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of West Florida and an MBA from Creighton University.

James Greisch is a proven leader with over 40 years of public accounting including as a market managing partner with a Big Four accounting firm. He has extensive executive and operational experience leading diverse enterprises. Prior to his retirement from RSM in August of 2021, Jim was the market managing partner of RSM’s Nebraska business unit from its formation in 2006. He also served as the national managing partner for financial services for RSM’s North American practice. In that role, Jim lead a team of nearly 5000 professionals serving clients in the asset management, capital markets, insurance, banking, and specialty lending sectors. Concurrently, Jim worked as Chair of RSM International’s Financial Services Group where he coordinated the services RSM’s global network offered to financial services enterprises across the globe.

1. Exploring and assessing the inventory of unique qualities and conditions of Nebraska specific to the delivery of broadband services.

2. Discuss the menu of free-market-driven solutions uniquely designed to meet the Internet coverage and access needs of Nebraska.

3. Understanding the challenges facing Nebraska and the causes of these challenges.

4. Discuss Aksarben initiatives to mobilize leadership through industry and regional projects.
